The Communist Party of Pakistan (CPP) is the representative party of the working class and working people of the country. The ideological basis of the party is Marxism-Leninism. The main aim of the party is to organize the workers and peasants and unite them with the middle class to carry out a socialist revolution. After the formation of Pakistan, the CPP was formed on March 6, 1948 at the Calcutta Congress of the Communist Party of India (CPI)۔ As soon as the Party was formed in Pakistan, the civil bureaucracy nurtured by British imperialism started creating problems. The civil bureaucracy and its junior partner, the military bureaucracy, began to link the country to imperialism and try to make it a subservient and mercenary state. The CPP began a struggle against it. At the same time, she started the process of forming unions and associations of workers, farmers, writers, journalists and government employees in the country. For this reason, a false case was filed against the party in 1951 under the name of Rawalpindi Conspiracy Case and the entire leadership was imprisoned. Similarly, patriotic elements in the army were arrested. Actually some military officers wanted to adopt an independent foreign policy by overthrowing the pro-imperialist policies of Pakistan's generals and rulers. The party restrained them, saying that the Party considered it wrong to come into power through a military coup. Thus, the party not only refused to be a part of such an action but also advised them not to do so. Despite this, the party leadership and the soldiers were punished. Even in such circumstances, the party continued to work and made a significant impact among the workers and the general public. For this reason, in 1954, the party was declared illegal. Most of the party members were imprisioned. The rest remained underground and engaged in revolutionary work. When Ayub Khan imposed martial law in 1958, a brutel operation was launched against the Party. General Ayub Khan was the first Pakistani general to work on US pay-role. After that the situation got worse and worse. In the time of General Ayub, a key member of the central committee, Comrade Hassan Nasir, was tortured and martyred in the royal fort of Lahore and his body got disappeared. Similar violence was continued till the time of General Zia ul Haq.
